Sonia Trading had its modest beginnings in 1966 as an import company engaged in general merchandising. Having secured its niche in Philippine sports, Sonia Trading has since consolidated into a global trading business concern with a worldwide network that spans Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, China, India, New Zealand, USA, and Europe.
1966 saw the birth of Sonia Trading, planting the roots of a marketing network that is to grow countrywide from region to region. After its early years in general merchandising, Sonia Trading’s imports found a significant niche in sports lines.
Since 1972, when the company was awarded the exclusive local distributorship of the tournament brand Mikasa from Japan, Sonia Trading has grown to become one of Philippine sport’s foremost suppliers of premier sporting goods and equipment. To further enhance its roster of products, it has brought into local sports the Asics brand of shoes and accessories, imported from Japan, Hong Kong, and China.
Fully integrated sports distribution warehouses, located in Metro Manila, are well in place to serve an expanding network of wholesalers and retail outlets; government corporations and institutions; schools, colleges and universities; and private corporations and institutions. Aggressive business presence is assured by having the main distribution centers spread out in the key cities of the Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao Islands.
Today, Sonia Trading continues to preserve a competitive position in quality sports lines by carrying globally recognized, top-of-the-line brands: from Mikasa and Asics to Gosen, Butterfly, Nittaku, Mueller, Puma, Nelco, Marathon, BHB, and Molten.
